We are a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church. For more information please visit this web site: Evangelical Covenant Church
We are a community of churches united by Christ in purpose, empowered by the Holy Spirit to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength; to love our neighbor as ourselves; and to go into the world and make disciples.
Why do we exist?
Our Purpose: We are devoted to Worship, committed to the Journey of Faith, and passionate about reaching the world with the restoring love of Jesus Christ. As a church, we seek to create an environment that reflects the core values of love, grace, joy, freedom and unity.
Our Reasoning: We believe that people are longing for a place and a community to be known and loved. We believe people are searching for something to provide meaning to their lives. Ultimately, we believe that Jesus Christ, through His death and resurrection, has the power to redeem and restore all of creation to its original purpose.
How Do I Experience this Restoration?
Lets take a look at few passages from the Bible found in the book of Romans:
We have a Big Problem…
In Romans 3:10 & 23 we learn that our big problem is called “sin.” People don’t like talking about sin very much, but we all intuitively know that we have made mistakes and said things we shouldn’t have said and done things we shouldn’t have done.
"As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one...'" "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”
The Good News is that God offers a Solution to our Problem…
As we continue to read in Romans 3:24 we learn that we “are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
The Solution to our Problem is a Gift…
Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
It is a Given Because of God’s Love for Us…
God doesn’t just say he loves us. He shows us his love through his son, Jesus (aka: Christ)!
Romans 5:8 - "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
We Must Receive this Gift of God’s Love…
Just because a gift is given, doesn’t mean that the gift has been received. In order to benefit from the gift, we need to accept the gift
Romans 10:9-10 - "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Becoming a Christian means that you confess & believe the truth about Jesus… that he died for our sins and that he has been raised from the dead. As such, Jesus becomes our “Savior and Lord.”
You Can Receive God’s Gift right now…
You can talk to God right now… right where you are… in your own words. We may feel like we are saying things right, but God is most concerned with the attitude of your heart. So when you talk to God, make sure you speak honestly from your heart. Here is a sample:
“Dear Lord,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry for this. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me, to save me. Jesus did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life. I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Amen”
